distantDVD is controled using the keyboard with the following keys;
The quickest way is to press the APPLE key + 'K' to 'connect to server', then type in the IP address of your windows machine in the format;
smb://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Select the shared drive and enter your username and password (as on the windows account). Thats it!
Yes. Your movies must be held within a specific folder structure.
The folder that you select using the preferences must contain only folders named the titles of your movies. The shared folder in the above example is 'DVD'
Inside these folders must be either be VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS folders or AVI/MPEG/MPG files and an optional 'Cover.jpg' file for the cover art.
The cover art can be any size as it will be resized at runtime. The higher quality the image the better it will look on your television, however using smaller images will make distantDVD run quicker on older sytems.
If you are using distantDVD to play back other media files, eg. AVI files, distantDVD will add all the files in the folder to VLC's playlist and then start playing the first file.
